Green Cauldron Coffee started with one big idea, to produce the world’s finest specialty coffee.
Our journey began six years ago as we gathered research, knowledge and people. It was in 2007 that our dreams came to fruition with the purchase of Federal Estate in the rolling hinterland of Byron Bay.
Having recognised the inherent quality of our regional bean we set about reviving the plantation; removing noxious weeds, improving soil health as well as installing onsite infrastructure such as a new processing facility and state of the art recycling systems. After a meticulous restoration we were able to harvest and process our 2008 crop onsite making Green Cauldron Coffee’s Federal Estate one of the largest and most sophisticated producers in NSW. Restoration and redevelopment will always be fundamental to our farm.
Our coffee
Green Cauldron Coffee is grown with an exclusive mixture of southern latitude, volcanic soil and a unique micro-climate. These attributes all help to emulate the high tropical altitudes of the world's finest coffee terroir. A cooling influence off the Pacific Ocean provides optimum growing conditions throughout the summer months ensuring the subtle growth of our coffee bean. A dry, mild winter further lengthens the ripening process, infusing natural flavours and producing a backbone of complexity and an expression of regional sweetness found only in Green Cauldron Coffee.
Our beans are proud to be Australian
Coffee from Australia benefits from conditions similar to those of traditional growing regions, such as Jamaica and Ethiopia. However, unlike our equatorial counter parts, Australia has the distinct natural advantage of being free from any of the major coffee pestilence or disease.
Also in contrast with these traditional producers is Australia’s strict industrial regulation which provides fair rates of pay and ensures workplace health and safety. The dual effect is a greener, more sustainable and fairer approach to farming – meaning we’re greener in sustainability and not just in name.
From seed to cup
The Australian Coffee on our menu is from our own farm. Expertly grown, processed and roasted by us – we are fully in control of every stage of the Coffee process, which is a unique concept.
Respecting the age old industry, every stage of Coffee must be performed with extreme care and precision. From planting the seedlings to packaging the beans.
For this reason we can confidently make the statement that ‘we are the growers and you can taste it’.
